I am Yvette Mushimiyimana and Ibaba. As a multi-disciplinary artist, I swing and wonder my way through universes with photography, music, and writing, which often gives birth to the surrealism that has been so heavily influenced by animation. My art also gives birth to themes of existentialism as questions have been my most honest answers. In turn, elements of chaos and harmony weave through my work as I’m graciously trying to heal, understand, and reimagine my world. Because of this healing, meditative process, much of my art starts out improvisational. Without the foundation of gospel music, education, and a polaroid camera growing up, I wouldn’t have much space to be this freestyle. This ritual of play serves as a part of my spiritual practice.
